Random things from my purse

I was cleaning out my purse to get ready to donate, and I couldn't help but laugh a little at some of the random things I pulled out.

I hope to think that I'm one of the very few people in the world that would pull out a plastic narwhal from the side zipper of their purse.

Mermaid pins, uncut house key, mockingjay pin, and tiny clothes pins are a little out there too I guess. 😂

What is the most random thing you've pulled out from inside your purse?

Day to Night: An attempt at fashion

Good morning! Good Monday!

Its Mommy Style Monday once again, and the topic this time around is a day to night look.

Lets be real this is gonna be a short and sweet post.  When it comes to making a look I'd be wearing during the day to the potential of going out at night has little to no change. 😭🙈

Number one in anything I wear is comfort, then, is it clean, then, I think about the fashion part.

Some of my favorite clothes for comfort is no surprise, Lularoe.  Dang it to heck, they make some cute comfy clothes.

For this post I'm wearing one of my favorite Lularoe shirts.

DAY LOOK

Shirt: Lularoe Perfect Tee
Black Leggings: Walmart
Sandals: Thrifted american eagle knock-off berks
Bracelet: goody hair tie

I'll happily run quick errands, drive to sonic, clean, and lounge on the couch watching Hulu in my comfy day look. Bonus, is i'll look put together is anyone randomly pops by, which happens frequently. :)

On to bring my day look to night... don't blink or you'll miss the difference. ;)

NIGHT LOOK

Shirt: Lularoe Perfect Tee
Jeans: Walmart
Sandals: Thrifted american eagle knock-off berks
Bracelet: goody hair tie

I told ya.  I really don't change much when I'm going out and need to fancy myself up.  I just throw on a pair of jeans and call it good, if i'm lucky and no big spills happened on my shirt during the day of course. If you remember my past Mommy Style Post about accessories, I normally don't. Comfy and plain. Just the way I like it. :)

Don't forget to check out my way more fashionable Mommy Style Mommy friends day to night looks.

Mommy Style Monday: Accessories

Hello all and welcome to another Mommy Style Monday! We're in our second week of fall break and its been a bit crazy around here.  I am glad for these MSM posts to keep me coming back and updating the blog.  Sometimes, I spend so much time on the site I write and work for (East Valley Moms Blog, I LOVE it!  It's like another baby to me.) that I forget about my own! oops! Thank you for sticking around and still keeping up with me and my crazy life.

This MSM is all about accessories. Besides my eyebrows (its an obsession), 100% honest my favorite accessory is a hair tie on my wrist. 85 percent of the time I have one, even if my hair is already up.  Its just my thing I guess.

I don't wear very many accessories, I don't go out and buy many things either.  I have a few necklaces and a few pairs of earrings. I would love to branch out and have way more choices but I can't seem to spend my money on something like this.

Walmart: Black & Coral Necklace & blue earrings
Target: White pearl flower earrings
Gifted: gold necklace & peach flower earrings.

I've had my Walmart necklaces for years.  There were a couple more necklaces but those are currently in a land fill somewhere weeping over my decision to let children wear them. Eh, oh well. Live and learn.

I tend to wear jewelry accessories when I'm kid free. So out at an event or to blog conferences.

Let us witness accessories out in the wild.

First Moms Night Out Event for EVMB February 2015

I'm just saving the environment by REUSING!

But really my accessories are spit up, food stains, pen marks, and mess.  Give me a baby on my hip and a toddler tugging at my shirt any day over earrings, hats, rings, necklaces or scarves.

Maybe some day i'll get a chance to accessories with things, instead of children but i'll enjoy this time while it lasts.

What's your favorite accessory? Kids, hats, bolo ties??

Go and see what the other ladies linking up accessorize with.

LuLaRoe Review + GIVEAWAY

When I first heard about the company, it was fairly close to after it launched.  I wasn't very into the idea.  I don't buy myself clothes often and didn't know much except LuLaRoe had crazy pattern leggings, which is true (and they are totally awesome btw).  As time went on I saw more and more about LulaRoe on social media, and the idea was growing on me. I had a couple pieces but hadn't explored too far into the clothing.  So when Mandy was looking for someone to review the clothing, I was happy to do it! Fun Fact: I was in a bunco group back in 2009 and Mandy was in the group too.  I hadn't seen her since then! I loved catching up and she has the cutest kids now!

I went over to her house (Arizona Local) and saw the incredible amount of inventory she has! It was a little overwhelming and intimidating looking at all those styles and patterns.  Its so great having a consultant that knows what they are doing and have an eye for matching, mixing and pairing the perfect pieces for you and your body.

I tried on quite a few styles, and fabric choices and finally settled on some amazing pieces.  I stepped out of my comfort zone with a couple pieces and I am so glad I took the risk.

I really wanted to show that 1.) Any size can rock LuLaroe and 2.) Don't be afraid of color and pattern mixing.

I received the following pieces to review.

  • XL Irma shirt
  • 2xl Cassie pencil skirt
  • Tall/Curvy Leggings
  • XL Carly swing dress.

The Cassie is my friend.  Each item is hand cut so sizing can very slightly, but the 2XL works perfect for me.  Its not constricting but not going to fall off.  The wide fold over waist band is so unbelievably comfortable, and the fabric is soft and has a good stretch.

I paired this bright fun Cassie with a gorgeous floral pattern Irma shirt.

An Irma runs big,(normally I would wear a 2xl in shirts but in the Irma an XL is the perfect fit) its a longer in the back tunic style shirt with just a slightly tighter quarter length sleeve.  It is exactly the shirt I need for Arizona's mild fall & winter weather.

What did I tell you about pattern mixing! Don't be scared.  I first saw this together and I was like WHAAAA!! but after I tried them on and saw what they looked like together I fell in love.  I wore this outfit to church and I wore it the rest of the day it was so comfortable.  I normally get home and change immediately out of my Sunday clothes.

Something else I love about the Irma is how great it pairs with jeans and leggings too. You can style it up for a night out, or glam it down for just around the house, running errands or out for a lunch with friends.  Its so versatile, which for me is great since, I don't purchase clothes for myself often I need one piece to look good many different ways. When you hear that LuLaRoe leggings are like butter, believe me they really are! You may sometimes catch yourself rubbing your legs often. If I could have a pair in every color I would be a happy happy gal.  They can be paired with an Irma, Classic T, Perfect T, Carly Dress, Amelia, Joy....okay basically everything!

Last but certainly not least is the Carly dress.  Its new to the LuLaRoe line and its came out with a bang! The Carly is a high low swing dress.  Intended to be worn tighter on the top then its flows down over the body loosely.  I don't usually wear loose flowy dress, but this dress has changed my mind about that.

Something that is usually difficult to find in clothing, particularly dresses my size, is a dress that is long enough in the back.  It could go to my knees in the front, but since my human body has a butt it comes up in the back and just looks odd and I'm uncomfortable wearing it. The Carly does not have that problem on me! I was very surprised too by the size that works for me, an XL!

If you are nervous LuLaRoe does not have a size for you, don't worry, because they do!  If I wanted an even looser look I could just go up a size and get that.  Same with the Irma shirt. I love the clothing and you could say I'm just around the river bend to becoming a #lularoeaddict?  OOPS. Sorry not sorry.

I know the price point of the clothing can be a huge turn off. I'm a fugal person and can't spend money on myself for the life of me, but after I purchased my first piece, and saw how great it was made, how comfortable I was in it and how happy it made me feel to wear, I was hooked.

I think it's all about the right pieces for you.  Start small and go from there!  Soon, you'll be in love too. :) My girl Mandy has everything you'd need and can help you find the perfect piece for you! She made me more of a believer in my clothing choices and more confident in myself!  Thank you Mandy!!

Don't you just love this Carly! Love the fun flirty pattern and it makes me feel dressed up, but also like I'm wearing a house dress. LOL! You can have that feeling too. LuLaRoe fashion consultant Mandy Shelley is graciously giving ONE lucky person a CARLY!!!!

Hey Mommy Style Monday. "Water" You Up To?

Hello to all!
Its Monday and I am joining in on mommy style Monday again with some rock star moms in the blogasphere!

This time around its all water day!

I've written the book on the perfect places to have a water day, but I confess, I hardly ever take my kids to pools or splash pads. Whoops!

Yes, it the perfect escape from the dreaded heat, but I guess my excuse is my little guy.  Its hard to go to places outside where he can be over heated quickly.  I've tried many times to go to the splash pad not to far from my house, but it just hasn't worked out yet.  I'm determined to go at least once before they close for the season.

We do outside water play around here. Running through sprinklers, water on the trampoline and making mud pies.

Even though its at home we still make sure we have everything we need to make it a fun time.

Sunscreen, water, towels, sunglasses, and of course the most favorite part of water days, otterpops.

Since we don't leave the house often to cool off I get the luxury of sporting my mom uniform while we play.  On occasion, if I'm getting all in, I'll wear my swim suit but for the most part its baggy tees with leggings.  The ultimate in comfortable play.

But lets be real, I'd wear this out in public too. Just not to Target, I've got a rep to protect.

Little brother is still unsure about the whole water, outside, nature thing, but he's coming around.

Big brother though is happy to take on any water day duties for both of them.

**sisters were at school so they missed out of the epic photo shoots ** no water day actually happened in the name of these pictures ** i'll be having a water day today to make it up to Camden for not letting him play in water when i asked him to model in his swimsuit ** #worldsokayestmom **

How I wore it for How We Wore It

Greetings you lucky finders of this post.  You are in for a real treat today. My very first totally awkward outfit post.

A few weeks ago, after reading a couple of friends How we wore it outfit posts, I was intrigued at the idea of doing something like this myself.  I've got about 9 months left before 30 and it's something I haven't done before, and I like a challenge, on occasion.  I thought about it for a few days then signed up to do the link up for July.  My thought process was that with the amount of people that probably sign up, I would surely not be selected to do such a thing, but since you're reading this that's not how things panned out.

I got the email to participate and I was slightly panicked.  There was a way out, a blurb at the end of the email that could have set me free..."PS. If for some reason you need to sit this week out let me know ASAP."  I could have very well taken it, but that's not me. I'm not a quitter.

So lets get this started :)

This month the lovely Deidre (the brainchild behind how we wore it posts) was inspired by fitness/relaxed look for this month.  Perfect! I basically live in leggings and relaxed baggy clothes, cause 4 months postpartum isn't really my clothing/body jam portion of life.

Then I saw the inspiration photo from Looks for Lovelies, seriously, DANG, she is fly!  Again, I literally just had a baby and I am not in shape, or trendy, or anything you'd normally think of when outfit post comes to mind so, I called upon my personal stylist/older sister Mallory and we got to work.

You guys it was a million degrees, and humid as heck taking pictures. I was sweating bullets within the first 10 seconds, but we totally Tim Gunn'd it.

Here I am in poses I like to call "What's that over there!" & "Sassy crosswalk signal"

Oh yes I am also supposed to talk about my outfit I am wearing.
 I call my look
"I make people of Walmart look good"

Shirt: Walmart
Leggings: Walmart
Shoes: Walmart Clearance
Shades: Men's H&M (borrowed from sister) here is a similar pair

Can't change location, just change something else then.  My personal stylist said knotting my shirt would work and look awesome.  It took some getting used to, cause the shirt does come up a bit and I wasn't confident it would look good, but I stepped WAY out of my comfort zone even more and I'm actually okay with this look. I wouldn't wear a knotted shirt a lot but I guess on occasion.

This is literally my go to every day look.  I feel comfortable in it, and it makes taking care of my 4 kids easier cause I can move in it.  I'm not trying to suck in to get those jean to zip or constantly pulling my jean back up over my ba-dunk-a-dunk.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my look for How We Wore it.
Don't forget to check out all these lovely ladies that participated with me.

all on drugs

(no one was harmed in the making of this pic. i was stopped at a light.)

mom's to children are the very definition of "uncool" so, i try to be cool. haha.

yeah right.

i do like to try new things.
New things in my life.
Neat shiny gold braided head band.  Yeah i wore my sweet headband like this to church the other day and my husband told me before i left. "You know you might make some of the older people have flashbacks. OR everyone will think that you've started taking drugs."

oh the joy a singe amazing headband can do!!! LOVE IT!
